When Not Enough Meets Grace

5 ways that we can thread this more grace-filled

approach into our own lives

  1. Don’t let your feelings be dictators of what you believe. You have to choose to believe what you know to be true, regardless of how you may feel in any given circumstance. Example: you may feel stupid when something doesn’t go right, but just because you feel it doesn’t make it true. Always go back to the truth. Take some time to sit and some write down, go to scripture

  2. Don’t downplay the importance of community. It’s how God designed us. Be the friend to others that you hope for them to be to you. Find your people, talk about hard things, show up as yourself, allow others into your good and mess. Listen here to hear more about the importance of building a strong community.

  3. You have to be willing to be vulnerable. With yourself, first of all, and with people you trust. If you’re not honest about what you’re thinking, how you’re feeling, and what you want then you’ll never grow. It can be scary and uncomfortable to be known, but it’s the only way to truly live.

  4. Remember that the things you do, or the things you don’t do, are not what defines you; they’re not your identity. Identity comes from who, not what, you are.

  5. Give yourself permission to go to counseling. Sorting through our own junk is hard. It’s not just for people who are in dire trouble or hanging on the edge. We don’t have to figure our lives out all by ourselves.
