How to beat FOMO

How to Beat FOMO

It's all about perspective baby. For most people FOMO, or the "fear of missing out," is considered a negative thing. What if we could use it to our advantage though? I can't tell you how much money I have wasted on things I didn't even want to do because I didn't want to miss out on all of the fun. I didn't want to lay in bed and see all of the super cute Instagram pics of everyone else having fun while I was at home doing nothing... so instead I went along with it. Tell me you've been there. I know I'm not the only one if there's a word for it! The secret to winning at FOMO is not pretending that it doesn't exist, it is using it to your own advantage. If we can switch our perspective to thinking about FOMO with other people, to FOMO within ourselves than we can start making some serious momentum towards where we want to be in life. What if instead of worrying about missing out on a cool experience with your friends, you worried about missing your opportunity to do what you've always wanted to do. The fear is already there, you might as well use it to propel you towards your goal. What if you wait around and never take a step forward because you're too scared? What if you are too worried about failing that you never really try? That friend, should be so much scarier to you than missing out on a fun hang out with your friends. Your fears of failure or what someone will think about you shouldn't even compare to the fear that you won't live into the person you were created to be. You know that person I am talking about. You know that thing that you secretly want to do, but come up with a list a mile wide of excuses of why you can't do it. I am more terrified about not becoming a published author and public speaker than I am that someone might think what I am saying is ridiculous. I am willing to chance it because this brings me life. I know that if I never take a step towards my goal I will never, absolutely never, get there. I want to be able to look back in five years and say "man, this road wasn't easy. But think of the lives I wouldn't have been able to touch had I not been more scared about missing out on this than scared about what they might think." Don't be scared of failure, it's part of the gig. In fact, it's the part that makes it all worth it. The part that gives you wisdom. Don't be so caught up in fear of missing out with other people, that you miss out on who were made to be. You were made for greatness. If you don't believe me, message me. I'd be happy to prove it to you. God gives each of us talents and gifts. You're not exempt. You are more talented than you believe, share it with the world.

All my love,

Mad
